Euonymus fruit, not opened yet
An immature fruit of Eunymous, growing in a neighbor’s yard. The fruit is about an inch/2 cm across. These are spectacularly colored when ripe — see here for a photo of the opened ripe fruit, on the same plant.
I thought this was beautiful, too, in a more quiet way. More detail at the larger sizes.
I am pleased to be the curator of a Euonymus gallery, which has fine photos from other Flickr members.

…and here’s Mrs fruit fly. Note no sex combs and stripey abdomen like the male. Can you believe that’s the texture of my nice smoothly plastered and painted kitchen wall?

Fruit Tart at Riviera

I’m amazed I got it looking this good. The light was pretty low in there. I’m more familiar with a typical custard underneath the fruit, but this filling was very similar to key lime pie. It was really delicious!
